Detrás del sofá

A zinc topped arched element console table sits behind the sofa, dividing the living area from the dining area.

There is a widely accepted idea in decorating a home that backs of  sofas are better placed against walls, basically because rooms will look larger and more open if there´s no physical barrier like a couch acroos the entrance. But not always do we have the possibility of having a perfect furniture lay out in our living rooms, and in some cases to optimize the space, the only option is to have the back of the sofa facing the entrance of the room.

If the lay out is thouhgt out to maximize the space, or done specifically to separate areas in one same room, I don´t mind seeing the back of a sofá at all! Today I´m showing you some ideas for decorating sofas´ backs!

#white and #orange - I really like that coffee table BEHIND the sofa, so cute!

And sometimes we add a console to the back of the sofá just to decorate or beacause there´s no space for side tables.

Color coral

Coral

Coral is a semidark red, pinkish orange, taken its name after the reefs´  coral skeleton. It has been very trendy this past summer season in fashion and I just love how it looks when we are tan.
Today I show you a very nice photo selection of this bright, powerful, warm, versatile  and cheerful color used in interiors.
If you wish to use it in walls, I recommend painting small spaces such as powder rooms, foyers, mudrooms, etc. I mean rooms we visit every day but don´t remain in them.
I love using coral in small pieces of furniture and accesories: arm chairs, consoles, cushions, rugs, lampshades....
Bear in mind that coral has very many hues. It can go from red to salmon or peach so depending on the shade we choose we can get a very elegant color or a very tacky one.
Together with greys, browns, whites and golds, we achieve sophisticated, elegant and fresh atmospheres.
Combined with shades of blues, greens or yellows we get bright, vibrant and energyzing spaces.
Black makes coral stand out even more.
