Duchas de exterior

Va a empezar el verano y todos soñamos con la playa y la piscina, pero mientras no podamos darnos el chapuzón os sugiero unas duchas de exterior en cualquier rincón al aire libre. Con un poco de imaginación y algo de decoración pueden quedar muy bien, y es un buen recurso contra el sofocante calor.
Aquí os dejo algunos ejemplos para que os sirvan de inspiración.

Back to Basics

Desde hace poco tengo unos pollitos en casa. Bueno hasta ayer pensaba que eran pollitos, pero hoy me han dicho, después de un mes de tenerlos, ¡que son codornices! Los traje por mis hijos, pero ahora estamos toda la familia emocionada con los pollos. Han ido creciendo, y les hemos construido un corralito, ¡en el jardín!. Yo ya me siento granjera, y me veo criando codornices para recoger sus huevos...... Es más, he quitado parte de un seto para hacer el corral, pero hoy ya he decidido quitarlo todo y  poner una huerta.

Esto me ha hecho pensar en la vuelta a los orígenes. Creo que esta crisis, va a hacer que nuestra sociedad, consumista desmesurada, se vuelva a levantar creciendo desde los cimientos más orgánicos. Así que yo me voy preparando...

Y quizás también la decoración vuelva a sus orígenes. Aquí os muestro ejemplos de interiores con materiales  de lo más primarios y naturales: madera, barro, fibras naturales, piedra, etc.

Not too long ago, I brought a few chicks for my kids, today we´ve found out that they are not chickens but quail. Now all of us are very much into raising them. They have grown and we have built them a shed in our garden. I already see myself as a farmer! In fact, I have taken out some plants to build the shed, and now I will take some more out to grow some vegetables.


All of this has made me think about going back to origins. This economic crisis that we in Spain are suffering, is going to make our compulsive consumer society get back up on its feet growing from the very basics, so 
I´m already starting....


And maybe interior design also does the same, so here are some examples of interiors decorated with natural materials such as wood, clay, natural fibers, stone, etc.

Edificios rehabilitados

Esta mañana fui a la cuidad de La Laguna (Tenerife) a ver una exposición de Tàpies en la sede de la    Fundación Cristino de Vera, y aparte del lujo de ver algunas de las obras de Tapies, me quedé absolutamente impresionada con la restauración y adaptación realizada en el edificio que alberga la Fundación. Se trata de una construcción típica canaria con un patio central,  suelos, techos y ventanas de guillotina todos de madera de tea.
Así que he investigado un poco y os cuento.....
El edificio, sede de la Fundación Cristino de Vera, se ubica en el número 18 de la calle San Agustín, de la ciudad de San Cristóbal de La Laguna, y es una vivienda del siglo XVIII  conocida como la casa Saavedra y Martnínez-Barona..

El proyecto del museo que hoy existe ha estado a cargo del arquitecto Juan Pablo Rodríguez Frade, coautor de la rehabilitación con los arquitectos Vicente y Fernando Saavedra Martínez. 

El resultado es impresionante y aquí os dejo algunas fotos. Espero que los que estéis en Tenerife no dejéis de visitarlo en persona.

This morning I visited an exhibition of some of the work of Antoni Tàpies, one of the greatest spanish artist of the 20th century. The exhibit was held at the Fundación Cristino de Vera, and besides fully enjoying Tàpies´ work, I was very impressed by the restoration and adaptation of the building housing the Foundation. It´s a very typical canarian construction with a central patio, tea wood floors, ceilings and sash windows. 

So I researched a bit....

The building hosting the Fundación Cristino de Vera, is in San Cristóbal de La Laguna (Tenerife). It was first a family home at the XVIII century, known as the Saavedra and Martínez-Baronoa house. 

The project to adapt this house to the museum it is today, was done by the arquitect Juan Pablo Rodríguez Frade, coauthor of the restoration project together with the arquitects Vicente and Fernando Saavedra Martínez. 

The outcome is really impressive. I leave you with some photos and hoping that those of you that are in the area take the time to visit it.
