El color del año 2013 según Pantone

El verde esmeralda es el color elegido por Pantone para este año que hoy comienza. Color que hace alusión a la esperanza y al que Pantone define en su web como "El color de la elegancia y la belleza que aumenta nuestra sensación de bienestar, equilibrio y armonía" y lo asocia a los tiempos que vivimos actualmente diciendo: "durante siglos, muchos países han optado verde para representar la curación y la unidad"

Emerald is the Pantone color of the year, as stated in Pantone´s official website "Lively. Radiant. Lush... A color of elegance and beauty that enhances our sense of well-being, balance and harmony" they continue connecting the color to the time being, "no other color conveys regeneration more than green. For centuries, many countries have chosen green to represent healing and unity."



Este verde es un color muy agradecido y muy fácil de combinar. Invita al descanso y al sosiego, aunque es un color con mucha fuerza y viveza.
Un espacio elegante puede resultar de la combinación del verde con tonos neutros como topo, beig, gris, marrón, negro, etc.
Habitaciones más alegres y eclécticas resultan de la combinación del verde con sus complementarios, rojo, violeta, naranja, etc. que avivarán y darán más luminosidad al verde.
El dorado con el esmeralda creará espacios muy sofisticados, habitaciones joya.
Junto con el blanco, tendremos habitaciones frescas y que aportarán sensación de equilibrio.

Emerald green is a very welcoming and easy to combine color. Although it is very vivid and stong, it evokes peaceful and soothing spaces.
Elegant rooms can be achieved combining this green with neutral hues such as beig, taupe, grey, brown, black, etc.
Eclectic and cheerful spaces are created as a result of mixing green with its complementaries, that is, red, violet, orange, etc. These will brighten up the emerald green. 
Together with white, fresh and balanced rooms will be achieved and with gold we´ll have as a result elegant and sophisticated spaces, just like a jewel.

Empapela tu baño

Ya os he comentado varias veces que para mí los baños tienen que tener tratamiento de salón. No renuncies a colgar cuadros, lámparas, colocar muebles que en primera instancia no estén pensados para baños, plantas  o flores frescas y por supuesto tampoco renuncies a decorar las paredes con papel pintado.

Yo prefiero usar papel pintado en aseos porque no se estropeará por la humedad. En caso de utilizarlo en baños hay que asegurarse de que esté bien ventilado. Los aseos además, son espacios para atreverse con una decoración más osada porque al no estar expuestos a la vista de todos no cansan.

Hoy os dejo algunos ejemplos de paredes de baños o aseos decoradas con papel pintado.

Several times I have said that to me bathrooms should be treated as living rooms in terms of decor. Do not refuse to hanging art pieces nor pendant lights, nor furniture which wasn´t meant for bathrooms in the first place, make sure you have plants or fresh flowers and of course don not refuse to having wallpaper.
I´d rather use wallpaper in powder rooms than in bathrooms because it will not be damaged by dampness. And also because powder rooms are spaces to impress! Let your creativity show off and be sassy!

El papel no es difícil de colocar pero requiere cierta maña, sobretodo cuando tiene dibujos y hay que casar un paño con otro. Hay que colocarlo sobre una superficie lisa y bien acabada porque todos los desperfectos de la pared luego se reflejarán en el papel. Si tu pared ya tiene yeso podrás colocarlo directamente, si tiene azulejo, tendrás que aplicar un producto que adhiera al azulejo y deje un soporte liso y preparado para el papel.

Si prefieres darle a tu baño un acabado diferente al azulejo pero no quieres grandes obras, recuerda el microcemento que se puede aplicar sobre cualquier superficie dejando un acabado perfecto.

Wallpaper in not difficult to place if you are skillful because patterns shoud be matched up from one strip to the other. A smooth surface is needed otherwise all the flaws will show through the wallpaper. If you already have a smooth surface, wallpaper could be applied directly on top. If you have tile, you´d need to smoothen up the surface with special products for that. 
If you are in Tenerife, don´t hesitate to ask for price estimations. 
If you want to chage your bathroom appearance and don´t want to go through tedious work remember the microcement.

Vestidores

Estoy trabajando en la transformación de un dormitorio en vestidor así que aprovecho para enseñaros algunos vestidores que me sirven de inspiración para crear un lugar que se ajuste a las necesidades de mis clientes que quieren aprovechar todo el espacio que se pueda para armario sin condenar las ventanas, y que resulte cómodo y funcional para desenvolverse dos personas.
Yo prefiero colocar puertas en los armarios porque de temporada a temporada se llena de polvo y la luz natural la termina estropeando. Me gusta dejar vistos los accesorios como bolsos, complementos, zapatos...
Todos estos ejemplos que os muestro tienen algo interesante que se puede trasladar a un "vestidor de mortal", porque no nos engañemos, ¿quién pudiera tener cualquiera de estos en su casa?

I´m currently working in transforming a bedroom into a dressing room so today I´m showing a few dressing rooms and walk in closets that serve me as inspiration for creating a perfect place to suit my clients´ needs, which start with having enough storage room without giving up the two windows the room has. We will come up with a functional space comfortable enough for two people getting ready at the same time!
I´d rather have doors in closets because from one season to the other, clothes get dusty and wear out with the natural light. I like to see the accesories and handbags in open shelves.
All of these dressing rooms below have some features that could be imitated in a "real life dressing room", because let´s face it....How many of us could have any of these at home?

Parece que están aquí para quedarse porque no hago más que verlas por todos lados. La mayoría de las veces están colocadas en cocinas pero la verdad es que quedan fenomenal en cualquier habitación. A mi me apetece probar a poner alguna en algún baño. Veremos si alguien se anima....

It looks like they are here to stay, industrial lamps are everywhere I look! Most of them are hung in kitchen areas but I think they look great in any room in the house. I´m hoping to fit one in a soon to be bathroom project. We´ll see....

Y ahora un dato interesante. Estas lámparas están en casi todas las tiendas de lámparas o de decoración, pero si vais a un distribuidor al mayor de material eléctrico encontraréis las "de verdad" a precios increíbles. Shhhh!

And here goes the tip, any of these wonderful lamps may be easily found in any lamp or decoration store, although if you go to any supplier or wholesaler of electrical equipment you´ll find "the real one" at the "real price" Shhhh!
