Pavimentos, el suelo como protagonista

El suelo de una vivienda es de las cosas más agradecidas de una reforma. Elegir un pavimento adecuado y atractivo dará un cambio drástico a toda la estética de la reforma. Uno de los recursos fáciles y económicos para cambiar el suelo es recurrir a la tarima flotante, ya sea de madera o sintética, que sin obras y de rápida colocación será una aportación importante. Pero hay infinidad de diferentes pavimentos que podemos elegir para que tengan mayor protagonismo dentro de toda la reforma y hoy os enseño unos cuantos para que podáis elegir.
A la hora de elegir el pavimento más adecuado para tu casa hay que tener en cuenta varias cosas como si es fácil de limpiar, si es poroso, si tiene muchas juntas, qué tipo de zócalo o rodapié necesita, si resbala, qué tráfico va a tener, a qué zona de la casa va destinado, etc.

Flooring is the icing of the cake in a home renovation. Choosing and adecuate and attractive pavement will have a drastic effect on the whole renovation. An easy choice will be laminate flooring, either natural or synthetic, this will be an easy to install and clean way to achive a drastic change. Although there are many pavement options to choose from to make "the floor" the star of the house. 

When choosing the right pavement for your home, you should bear in mind things like if it´s easy to clean, porous, if it has too many joints, which skirting does it need, etc.

Ya sabéis que a mi me encanta el microcemento, porque permite tener una superficie continua sin juntas y también sin rodapié. Es muy fácil de limpiar, es resistente y está disponible en muchos colores. Sus acabados también son varios, rugoso, liso, brillante, satinado, etc.

My personal choice is microcement. I love continuous surfaces with no joints and no skirting. Easy to clean, resistant and available in many colors and finishings, microcement is a good choice.

Renovar una cocina con poca obra y poco presupuesto

Hoy os quiero mostrar una pequeña reforma en casa de una pareja joven que tenía un problema con el alicatado de su cocina pero que no se quería meter en grandes obras ni grandes presupuestos. En la pared de la cocina que daba a la fachada se estaban desprendiendo los azulejos. Esa fachada, orientada al sur, está expuesta a grandes cambios de temperatura. Probablemente los azulejos se desprenden porque el material que se utilizó para pegarlos no era un material flexible, que es lo más recomendable, y están expuestos a cambios de temperatura grandes, con sus consecuentes dilataciones.

La cocina estaba en buen estado y los clientes preferían conservarla así que propusimos desmontar los muebles de la parte alta, y eliminar los azulejos desde la encimera hasta el techo y sustituirlos por un revestimiento más actual con un color grisáceo que le daba algo de color a la cocina entre la encimera y los muebles altos. Para el resto de la cocina optamos por un acabado de yeso y pintura, que permite modificar el color cuantas veces queramos. Propusimos una franja de pizarra a modo de raya ancha en una de las paredes sin muebles.

Aquí os dejo con algunas fotos. La verdad es que no se aprecia muy bien porque las fotos son muy malas, pero el cambio in situ es más evidente. Esto es sólo una muestra de que sin grandes obras ni grandes presupuestos podemos mejorar la imagen de cualquier estancia de la casa.

I´d like to show you a kitchen renovation at a young couple´s home. The tiles of the walls were falling off specially in the wall adjacent to the facade due to the drastic temperature changes. Most probably, these tiles are falling off because they were not tiled with a flexible material in the first place, which is always recommendable.

The kitchen furniture was in good shape and my clients decided they´d rather keep it for now, so we suggested to dismantle the top pieces to take all the old tiles off and change them for  newer and more trendy ones in a greyish colour that gave the kithchen a better look. For the rest of the walls we opted for tearing off the tile and plaster and paint. In one of the walls we used chalkboard paint in a thick stripe. 

I´ll leave you with some pictures that are not very good and are not true to the real thing, but it is just an example of how to get a great new look with little "dirty work" and little money.

Estoy trabajando en un proyecto para unos clientes que quieren hacer una casita de huéspedes en su jardín con algunos requisitos muy específicos. Después de escuchar sus necesidades, hablar del presupuesto y el tiempo de ejecución, que tiene que ser breve, ésta es mi propuesta. Os adelanto que les ha encantado la idea por su originalidad. Además, si se cambian de casa, que entra en sus planes, ¡SE LA LLEVAN!

I have recently had a request for designing and building a guest house in a clients´ garden. This project had very specific requirements so after meeting with my clients and decided on the budget and due date, which had to be soon, this is my proposal..... Let me tell you, they just loved the idea. They find it very original and fun. Plus, since there´s a chance they might move in the near future, THEY TAKE IT WITH THEM!

El color del año 2013 según Pantone

El verde esmeralda es el color elegido por Pantone para este año que hoy comienza. Color que hace alusión a la esperanza y al que Pantone define en su web como "El color de la elegancia y la belleza que aumenta nuestra sensación de bienestar, equilibrio y armonía" y lo asocia a los tiempos que vivimos actualmente diciendo: "durante siglos, muchos países han optado verde para representar la curación y la unidad"

Emerald is the Pantone color of the year, as stated in Pantone´s official website "Lively. Radiant. Lush... A color of elegance and beauty that enhances our sense of well-being, balance and harmony" they continue connecting the color to the time being, "no other color conveys regeneration more than green. For centuries, many countries have chosen green to represent healing and unity."



Este verde es un color muy agradecido y muy fácil de combinar. Invita al descanso y al sosiego, aunque es un color con mucha fuerza y viveza.
Un espacio elegante puede resultar de la combinación del verde con tonos neutros como topo, beig, gris, marrón, negro, etc.
Habitaciones más alegres y eclécticas resultan de la combinación del verde con sus complementarios, rojo, violeta, naranja, etc. que avivarán y darán más luminosidad al verde.
El dorado con el esmeralda creará espacios muy sofisticados, habitaciones joya.
Junto con el blanco, tendremos habitaciones frescas y que aportarán sensación de equilibrio.
Aquí os dejo algunos ejemplos para disfrutar de este color tan rico y versátil.

Emerald green is a very welcoming and easy to combine color. Although it is very vivid and stong, it evokes peaceful and soothing spaces.
Elegant rooms can be achieved combining this green with neutral hues such as beig, taupe, grey, brown, black, etc.
Eclectic and cheerful spaces are created as a result of mixing green with its complementaries, that is, red, violet, orange, etc. These will brighten up the emerald green. 
Together with white, fresh and balanced rooms will be achieved and with gold we´ll have as a result elegant and sophisticated spaces, just like a jewel.
